Adult and child psychiatrists and nurses are available to provide pharmacological management for clients assessed as needing medication to help stabilize psychiatric symptoms. Also, follow-up psychiatric services and assistance helps ensure that clients have an understanding of their illness and the impact of medication, including side-effects. We believe in involving the person served and their family in decisions about medication and we support client choice. We also encourage involvement of a primary care physician so that overall health status can be continuously assessed.
Activities are face-to-face and include psychiatric evaluations, medication check-ups, medication education, laboratory work, and administration of medication and coordination of services provided by other health care providers. Nurses are available to make home visits if applicable and if part of the person’s treatment plan.
